Job Role Summary

The Health and Wellbeing Assistant will work within the Nottingham Forest Community Trust’s ‘Healthy Goals’ programme, supported by the Premier League and Professional Footballers’ Association. Administered through the Premier League Charitable Fund, the funding helps football clubs to tackle inequality and respond to local challenges, supporting people and their communities to be more inclusive.

As a field-based role, the primary role is to deliver/coach a mixture of community-based physical activity and wellness activity to a broad audience including both teens and adults (18+). Activity and engagement will promote healthy lifestyle and nurture a space for both physical and mental health improvement. The role will facilitate activity where people can participate without prejudice, feel comfortable, connect, and grow in confidence together.

Reporting to the Healthy Goals Health & Wellbeing Coordinator, this role may be ideal for those with existing skills and experience in the field and looking to balance alongside another role, or as the perfect development opportunity. The role-holder will support the Trusts’ priority around health and wellbeing, ensuring that physical and mental wellbeing sits at the heart of everything we do as well as continually striving to be a core part of our community supporting those who need us.


Main Duties of the Job

* The delivery of physical activity sessions as part of the Trusts’ Healthy Goals programme, ensuring venues in priority areas host interventions such as physical activity, mental well-being and healthier lifestyle advice and guidance.
* On the ground delivery of physical activity, mental health, and healthier lifestyle workshops in a group/face to face setting
* A focus on improving health-related outcomes, working with groups/individuals to set personalised goals to enhance lifestyle and improve wellbeing.
* Develop links to NHS & Public Health and Mental Health organisations, to strengthen referral pathways to ensure support reaches those in need.
* Connect and engage with statutory and non-statutory mental health support services (such as Wolf Pack Project, NHS Talking Therapies), to develop opportunities for partnerships.
* Support monitoring and evaluation processes to effectively measure and adhere to the PLCF KPI and Outcomes framework, while collating a range of quantitative and qualitative participant data (registers, surveys, case study and individual testimony on behalf of the Trust).


Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Support the delivery of all Healthy Goals activity within 4 targeted community locations, facilitating sessions that support physical and mental wellbeing.

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with partner organisations and key stakeholders.

Monitor and evaluate Healthy Goals programmes ensuring that all data is up to date and accurate on monitoring systems.

Meet set reporting deadlines for all Healthy Goals (PLCF funded) programmes.

Support the delivery of other Trust programmes, as and when required.

Support the implementation of the Trust’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policies and procedures.

Positively support all Trust departments and functions as and when required.

Always represent the Trust positively to internal and external partners and stakeholders, including Nottingham Forest Football Club.

Advocate a positive working culture.

Represent the Trust publicly at meetings, conferences and other events.

Act as positive role model, engaging and inspiring people of all ages to take part in the Trust’s activities.


Skills, Knowledge And Experience

* Experience of moderate physical activity delivery that can support wider determinants of health, including increasing physical activity levels, improving mental health, resilience and healthier lifestyles.
* Experience of working in community settings, particularly to support under‑represented audiences into activity.
* Hold a minimum Level 2 qualification in sports coaching/exercise/fitness instruction and can confidently lead sessions
* Understanding of the complexities of mental health and how physical activity can positively impact.
* Hold or willing to work toward Mental Health First Aid qualification.
* Understanding of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire communities, the barriers of potential engagement and proven track record to remove barriers.
* Hold a Full UK Driving License and access to own transport in order to travel to and facilitate sessions across the city and county.
