An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Diabetes Specialist Nurses (DSN) to join the multidisciplinary Diabetes Team at Scarborough Hospital.
The post holder will be required to support the multidisciplinary diabetes team in the management of people with diabetes, taking a lead in the Ante- natal diabetes service and young adult diabetes service. There is much emphasis on patient empowerment for self-efficacy in the management of long-term conditions, and therefore the post holder will require excellent interpersonal skills. They will need to be able to motivate and lead others and act as an effective role model. The ability to be flexible, creative and adaptable are key personal attributes.

Main duties of the job
Candidates will be expected to be able to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the current clinical and professional issues affecting people with diabetes, incorporating high quality evidence in patient centred care.
Additionally, they will demonstrate competency in teaching (patients and healthcare professionals), supervision of team members and sharing good practice. Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams is essential, while a post registration qualification in diabetes would be ideal.
