Our commitment to excellence in creative arts education sets us apart, providing students with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to succeed in their chosen fields. ​ Expressions of Interest: Freelance ​ Lecturer - Contract & Business Law in Higher Education: BMus (Hons) Music Business ​ ​ About the role ​ ​ ​ ​ We are seeking experienced lecturers and industry experts specialising in contract law, intellectual property, and legal/ethical frameworks within the music and creative industries to join a great team of music professionals in a vibrant and supportive working environment at our Bristol Campus. ​ This role focuses on delivering the Level 6 module Business Ethics & Music Law, enabling students to understand contractual agreements, legislation, ethical responsibilities and rights ownership within the music industry. ​ ​ You will play a key role in delivering high-quality education to our students and helping develop their professional and legal literacy for future industry careers. ​ ​ ​ What You’ll do: ​ ​ ​ • Design and deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons in music law, ethical business practice and intellectual property. • Teach students to apply legal and ethical concepts to real-world creative industry contexts and case studies. • Contribute to assessment processes, including marking and the provision of constructive academic feedback. • Stay updated with current industry and legal developments and integrate these into teaching materials. • Mentor and support students toward their professional development and industry readiness. • Collaborate with colleagues to refine and enhance learning materials across the curriculum. ​ ​ What You’ll bring: ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ • A graduate or postgraduate qualification in Law, Music Business, Creative Industries, Cultural Policy or a related subject. ​ • A graduate or postgraduate qualification in education is advantageous but not essential. ​ • Significant teaching experience (at the higher education level is preferred but not essential). ​ • Significant industry experience in music/entertainment law, such as contracts, rights management, licensing, publishing, dispute resolution, negotiation or commercial governance. ​ ​ • Strong communication and organisational skills. ​ • A commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. ​ • A flexible approach to work. ​ Contractual Hours : Freelance, variable hours depending on subject area and student numbers. ​ ​ ​ There are opportunities for regular teaching from January 2026 as well as cover teaching/deputising and guest lecturing on an ad hoc basis. ​ BIMM provides internal training and professional development for all lecturers, especially those new to teaching.
