Emergency Dispatcher – Chelmsford, East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust
About the role
You will support the deployment of emergency ambulance resources from the Emergency Operations Centre in Chelmsford. You will work with operational colleagues and teams within the Control Room to ensure the most appropriate emergency ambulance response is arranged and that a high level of clinical quality is delivered to patients.
Responsibilities
* Deploy emergency ambulance resources across a specific geographical area in accordance with local and national performance targets and call triage categories.
* Communicate effectively with operational colleagues and Control Room teams to ensure the most appropriate emergency ambulance response is arranged.
* Prioritise workloads and make quick decisions, often at times of pressure, while remaining calm and resilient.
* Use computerised systems and multitask in a busy, challenging, fast‑paced environment.
* Work well within teams and be IT literate.
Qualifications
* At least 2 years experience within a customer‑focused environment where you have prioritised and managed your workload in a busy, challenging and fast‑paced setting.
* Good communication skills, team working ability, and awareness of equality and diversity.
* 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English (or an equivalent qualification).
* Geographical knowledge of the Chelmsford area is desirable.
* An understanding of the Ambulance Service/NHS is beneficial but not required.
Shift pattern and working hours
This role involves a rotating shift pattern covering days, nights, weekends and special/public holidays.
