About the Role We are seeking a committed and skilled Design & Technology Teacher with a specialism in Engineering or Resistant Materials to join a well-established secondary school on a short-term basis. This role is to cover staff absence and requires a flexible and confident professional who can quickly integrate into an experienced department. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and practical DT lessons to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, ensuring a safe and productive workshop environment. Key Responsibilities • Deliver high-quality Design & Technology lessons (Engineering / Resistant Materials) to KS3 and KS4 students • Plan, prepare, and adapt lessons in line with the national curriculum where required • Maintain a safe, well-managed workshop environment in line with health and safety regulations • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress • Manage classroom behaviour effectively and promote positive learning attitudes • Work collaboratively with the DT department and wider school staff Requirements To be considered for this role, you must have: • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent • Proven experience teaching Design & Technology (Engineering / Resistant Materials) at secondary level • Strong knowledge of workshop safety and practical teaching environments • The ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities • A flexible, reliable approach and the ability to start at short notice This role is not suitable for Food Technology or Textiles specialists.
