A primary school in St Austell is looking for a 1-1 Primary teaching assistant to start from 5th January 2026 on a fixed term contract of 6 months. As a 1:1 teaching assistant you will support pupils with additional needs such as autism, communication difficulties, or moderate learning difficulties. You’ll usually work 1:1 or in small groups, helping pupils access lessons and making sure they don’t get left behind. Sometimes this means breaking work down into smaller steps, using visual aids, or giving extra explanations. Other times it means helping with daily routines, building confidence, or managing transitions between activities. The school has a resource base and a dedicated team which work to ensure every child can succeed. Ofsted highlights the schools effective systems for identifying the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
