<div><h3>ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT</h3><h3>MARKET HARBOROUGH</h3><h3>£30,000 to £35,000 + BENEFITS</h3><h3>THE OPPORTUNITY:</h3><p>Were recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing SME based in Market Harborough that is looking to appoint an Accounts Assistant to support its finance function.</p><p>Working closely with the Finance Director, this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant or Finance Assistant who enjoys working in a hands‑on SME environment. The role offers broad exposure across transactional finance, with responsibility for both purchase ledger and sales ledger activities, alongside wider finance administration and month‑end support.</p><h3>THE ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT / ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT ROLE</h3><ul><li>Reporting directly to the Finance Director, youll play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the finance department.</li><li>Processing and reconciling purchase invoices, supplier payments and employee expenses.</li><li>Managing supplier accounts and maintaining accurate purchase ledger records.</li><li>Raising sales invoices, allocating customer payments and supporting credit control activities.</li><li>Performing bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies where required.</li><li>Preparing payment runs and processing electronic payments.</li><li>Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring transactions are posted correctly.</li><li>Assisting with month‑end processes and management reporting.</li><li>Supporting VAT return preparation and compliance activities.</li><li>Producing finance reports and assisting with general finance administration.</li><li>Identifying opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency within the finance function.</li></ul><h3>THE PERSON</h3><ul><li>Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Finance Assistant or similar finance role.</li><li>Strong understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger & credit control processes.</li><li>Ideally experience working within an SME environment.</li><li>Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.</li><li>Good communication skills with the ability to build relationships with suppliers, customers and colleagues.</li><li>Competent Excel and finance system skills.</li></ul><p>We are an equal opportunities employer and we never charge candidates a fee for our services.</p></div>
