TeacherActive is seeking a Functional Skills Tutor in Derby
We are looking for a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor to work in a specialist alternative provision in Derby.
Essential Experience: Working in a school setting and experience with SEND pupils.
Qualifications: QTS or QTLS is preferred but not essential; attitude and personality are key.
Desirable Attributes:
* Ability to teach functional skills in English & Maths
* Experience working with young people
* Highly organized with excellent communication skills
* Desire to work with, inspire, and support children
* Interest in supporting young people with additional needs
* Experience supporting children with additional needs (desirable)
* Team player within the school environment
* Understanding of behavioural management
Role Responsibilities:
* Teaching basic skills in an SEND provision to pupils of varying abilities
* Supporting children during lessons and school activities
* Assisting staff and children during lunch and break times
* Managing pupils' personalized learning based on individual needs
* Delivering 1:1 or small group activities
* Recording evidence of children's work to support assessments
* Providing physical management and care of pupils
The setting supports young people in KS3 & KS4 who have been permanently excluded or are on the verge of exclusion from mainstream schools. The aim is to reintegrate these young people into mainstream schools, post-16 education, apprenticeships, or training through personalized education plans.
