Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and security-cleared Node.js Developer to join a long-term government programme within the UK defence sector. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining secure back-end services and APIs using Node.js and modern cloud technologies. You'll work as part of a collaborative agile team delivering scalable solutions that support national security objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain back-end services using Node.js and Express.js
Write clean, testable, and efficient code following best practices
Ensure systems are secure, scalable, and compliant with defence standards
Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across environments
Essential Skills & Experience
Active Security Check (SC) Clearance
Strong proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript/Typescript
Experience with Express.js, Restful APIs, and micro services architecture
Familiarity with AWS, Docker, and containerised environments
Knowledge of secure coding practices and data protection standards
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Desirable Skills
Experience in the defence or public sector
Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git Lab, or GitHub Actions
Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
