JOB TITLE:
BIM / CAD Technician – Security Systems
Location: WFH (Travel to site when required)
ROLE OVERVIEW:
RHI is seeking an experienced BIM / CAD Technician to support the design delivery of electronic security systems across large-scale and complex projects. This role is intentionally balanced, with approximately 50% focus on BIM (Revit) and 50% on AutoCAD 2D production.
The position places strong emphasis on high-quality AutoCAD 2D drawing output, including general arrangement and layout drawings, block and sheet management, and the accurate transfer of information from surveys, mark-ups, and redlines. Revit will be used in parallel to support BIM project delivery and structured design workflows, rather than model-heavy coordination.
You will work closely with engineers and design coordinators, contributing to design project coordination and ensuring drawing accuracy, consistency, and compliance with agreed CAD and BIM standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Produce, update, and maintain high-quality 2D AutoCAD drawings for electronic security systems, including general arrangement, layout, and schematic drawings
• Apply strong AutoCAD 2D expertise, including block management, sheet/layout management, xrefs, and drawing organisation
• Transfer survey data, site mark-ups, and redlines accurately onto AutoCAD and Revit drawings
• Take ownership of the as-built drawing process, ensuring final records accurately reflect installed systems
• Produce and maintain Revit models and associated drawing outputs to support BIM-based project delivery
• Coordinate security system designs with wider project teams at a design level rather than model coordination
• Maintain, apply, and help develop CAD and BIM drawing standards, templates, and workflows across AutoCAD and Revit
• Ensure all drawings and models comply with company standards, project requirements, and industry best practice
• Support engineers and project teams with clear, well-structured design documentation
• Contribute to continuous improvement of CAD and BIM processes, with a focus on drawing quality and consistency
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
• Strong AutoCAD 2D expertise is essential, including:
– Block creation and management
– Sheet and layout management
– Development of general arrangement and layout drawings
• Proven experience producing detailed technical drawings in a design office environment
• Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit within a BIM environment
• High attention to detail and commitment to accurate, high-quality outputs
• Ability to manage multiple drawing packages and priorities
• Clear communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with design teams
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:
• Experience working with point cloud data
• Surveying experience or regular use of survey information
• Experience transferring survey and redline information into coordinated drawings
• Familiarity with BIM / Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
• Experience on large commercial, infrastructure, or technically complex projects
• Background in security systems, low-voltage systems, or related building services disciplines
