Job Overview
We are excited to offer the opportunity to join our Occupational Therapy Stroke Team at Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen. This Band 6 Occupational Therapist will provide quality rehabilitation and support early discharge with a home‑first ethos.
As an integral part of an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team—including consultants, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, nurses and rehabilitation assistants—you will have a strong foundation in rehabilitation, focusing on what matters to the patient. Your role will include knowledge of manual handling, education, cognition, sensory and physical function, and you will be involved in service development, audit and supporting the wider team’s education.
Main Duties of the Job
You will deliver stroke rehabilitation and complex manual handling, with a good understanding of current issues affecting acute and community services. You will work autonomously, managing a diverse and unpredictable caseload, prioritising and adapting in a rapidly changing environment. Advanced clinical knowledge, risk assessment skills and manual handling experience are essential, as is a commitment to the learning and development of your team, students and yourself.
The post includes managerial responsibilities such as PADR and staff supervision, leadership and advice, clinical skill development, evaluation, audit and contributing to research. You will manage a complex caseload, support triage and allocation, oversee handover processes and guide appropriate clinical discussions.
