Our business is growing year on year. We now have an exciting opportunity and are looking for an experienced Security Engineer to join our transformative Information Technology & Digital Services Department.
You will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing and maintaining security controls across our hybrid infrastructure. Working closely with IT Solution Delivery, IT Operations and business stakeholders, you will ensure our systems are resilient against threats, compliant with regulations, and aligned with best practices.
Based in Chard, Somerset near the Devon/Dorset border we have close proximity to the Jurassic coastline and outstanding countryside right on our doorstep.
Overview
Key responsibilities and expectations for a senior security engineer operating in a hybrid IT environment.
Responsibilities
* Security Operations & Monitoring
o Lead threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management activities.
o Manage and optimise Microsoft 365 E5 security features (Defender XDR, Purview, Sentinel, etc).
o Monitor and respond to alerts from SIEM, EDR and other security platforms.
* Architecture & Engineering
o Design and implement secure configurations for Azure and Oracle ICI environments.
o Support secure deployment practices for Adobe Commerce and other web-facing services.
o Collaborate on network segmentation, firewall policies, and identity management.
o Work alongside GRC analysts to maintain security policies standards, and procedures aligned with ISO 27001.
o Ensure compliance with GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations.
* Project & Stakeholder Engagement
o Act as a security SME in IT and business projects.
o Provide guidance and training to IT users and developers on secure practices.
o Liaise with vendors and partners to assess and improve third-party security.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a senior security engineering role within hybrid environments.
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 E5 security stack.
* Hands-on experience with Azure and/or Oracle OCI security controls.
* Familiarity with Adobe Commerce or similar eCommerce platforms.
* Proficiency in SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability management tools.
* Understanding of network security and identity & access management.
* Certifications such as CISSP, AZ-500, SC-200, or equivalent.
* Experience with automation/scripting.
* Experience with securing OT environments.
* Exposure to SecDevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
