A mainstream primary school in Middlesbrough is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Reception-aged child who is pre-verbal and highly sensory-seeking. This is a full-time, long-term role running for the remainder of the academic year, with the potential to extend.
The school is looking for someone who can:
* Build a trusting, consistent relationship with a young child who requires structure, patience and predictable routines.
* Support sensory regulation, communication development and engagement in Early Years learning.
* Work confidently with pre-verbal children, using visual aids, modelling language, sensory strategies and play-based communication.
* Follow guidance from the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to deliver an individual support plan.
* Be reliable, nurturing and able to remain calm while supporting behaviours linked to sensory needs.
Requirements:
* Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally Autism, sensory processing needs or delayed communication.
* Experience in Early Years or Reception is highly beneficial.
* Ability to commit full-time for the remainder of the academic year.
* Strong communication, professionalism and a child-centred approach.
* Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
If you want a long-term role where you can make a genuine impact in a child's early development, this is an excellent opportunity.
