This job is for an experienced B7 Paediatric Audiologist within the Hearing and Balance Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. Job responsibilities
* The post holder will work in a leadership role managing the day to day and provide a comprehensive paediatric audiology service. They will demonstrate leadership to ensure staff are working to national standards, ensure current practice is evidence based and ensure there is quality within the service. The role will require leadership on a specific area of complex paediatric audiology and day to day operational management of this area. They will offer support for more junior staff and those training and deputise in the absence of the Head(s) of Service. They will ensure the service improvements are made in an evidence based manner, develop staff, conduct clinical audits and support IQIPs accreditation.
* Principal duties and areas of responsibility include supervisory and management responsibility for delegated performance management, providing day-to-day advice to junior staff, and paediatric centred audiology services across operational sites.
* Provide specialist audiological advice to medical practitioners on non-routine paediatric ENT cases; paediatric testing (OAE/ABR and behavioural methods); specialist habilitation including complex assessments and rehabilitation; and direct testing in non-routine environments (eg operating theatres, anaesthesia wards).
* Deliver patient- and family-centred explanations of complex procedures, results and rehabilitative strategies; deliver direct neonatal screening services; coordinate neonatal screening to ensure coverage, yield and safety.
* Lead and manage service development, budget monitoring, stock management, and provide performance feedback and quality control to drive service improvements; contribute to IQIPS accreditation and governance frameworks.
* Support leadership for multi-site neonatal screening and ensure risk management, Health and Safety, and Patient Access agendas are integrated into service delivery.
* Assist with training and education programmes for internal and external staff, and contribute to data gathering systems for evidence-based service management.
* Deputise in the absence of the Head of Service and perform other professional/managerial work as required.

* Ensure timely feedback on use of consumables and equipment status; provide day-to-day advice on clinical problem management.
* Deliver paediatric audiology services to the ENT department across all sites; provide specialist audiological advice to medical practitioners; conduct paediatric testing and habilitation; manage complex cases and non-routine environments.
* Promote quality and safety, implement service changes to optimise resource use, and monitor performance indicators and governance frameworks.
* Develop data gathering systems, perform audits, report service performance, and contribute to professional development and CPD records.
* Deputise for Head of Service as required and contribute to risk assessments and Health & Safety management.

Person specification
Experience: Essential – post-qualifying clinical experience; ability to lead and perform paediatric diagnostic assessments; involvement in paediatric hearing aid management and related project management. Desirable – evidence of research/audit, working in multidisciplinary teams, line management.
Skills & Behaviours: Essential – good communication, interpersonal skills, team player; time management; problem solving; adaptability.
Additional requirements: Essential – evidence of CPD and reflective practice.
Qualifications: Essential – BSc (Hons) Audiology with registration; CPD evidence. Desirable – MSc in Audiology or equivalent, HTS qualification, management qualifications, Trainers/Assessors award.
