Clinical Trials Assistant (Maternity Cover)

Part‑time – 30 hours per week (4 working days, some cross‑site working). We would be happy to discuss this as an opportunity for secondment.
We are looking for an established health care staff member or an admin professional who wishes to develop research‑delivery skills.
As a Band 3 Clinical Trials Assistant, you will support research nurses, allied health professionals and practitioners in the delivery of both commercial and non‑commercial clinical trials and research studies.
You will become an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, working alongside experienced medical, nursing, administrative and support staff across a range of clinical specialties.

Main duties
The main purpose of the role is to provide data management, administrative and some clinical support for clinical trial activities in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), standard operating procedures and trust policies. You will assist in trial data collection, form completion, new trial set‑up, ongoing management of existing trials and workload management in both administrative and clinical capacities.

Person Specification
Training and Qualifications
* Literacy and numeracy level 2 or equivalent (GCSE A‑C)
* Demonstrated good command of the English language (written)
* NVQ level 3 (health or Health & Social Care) or working towards an award
* Evidence of ability to work with a variety of online and computer systems
* ICH‑GCP training
* Foundation Degree in Health & Social care
Experience and Knowledge
* Previous experience in a health or health and social care role
* Evidence of working within statutory requirements, standards and regulations
* Able to assess current knowledge and identify learning needs for this role
* Previous experience of clinical trials and research
* Awareness of GCP and other local and national agenda within speciality
Skills and Ability
* Demonstrate awareness of Trust values
* Evidence of good interpersonal skills
* Ability to work under pressure within a team
* Demonstrates good team working, initiative, communication skills and flexibility
* Demonstrates good organisational skills
* Evidence of record keeping (health records of administrative)
* Experience of dealing with patients in a clinical setting
* Phlebotomy skills or ability to obtain heights/weights and vital signs/urinalysis/BM glucose/pregnancy test from patients or willing to undertake this and other training
