Are you interested in working and living in an area of natural beauty with clean air, no traffic jams and the opportunity to explore a variety of outdoor leisure pursuits and cultural activities? Would you like to be able to see a patient’s care through from start to finish? Or simply fancy a change of scene, a stretch opportunity or the chance to expand your skills providing high-quality and person-centred care in a remote and rural location?
As a result of new funding, we have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 SLT to join our friendly and supportive team. Based at the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway, you will be contributing to improving and expanding our services to adults with acquired disorders of communication, upper airway and swallowing in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. You will have an interest in adult neurological conditions across acute, rehab and progressive pathways and be keen to develop specialist skills in dysphagia and AAC. A car driver is required due to the requirement to provide home visits.
This post is being offered as a Band 5 to 6 development opportunity. You will be supported to transition to a Band 6 post following completion of NHS Flying Start, RCSLT NQP framework and NES Preceptorship and Professional Development framework. Evidence of completion is expected to take not less than 2 years. In return, you will have access to dysphagia training, in-house and external learning and development opportunities, videofluoroscopy clinic and regular clinical supervision.
The successful applicant will be required to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme). This post is not eligible for relocation expenses.
All NHS Western Isles vacancies appear on the NHS Scotland website: apply.jobs.scot.nhs.uk, along with a job description.
