N-Step Consultant

A part-time opportunity has arisen for an NSTEP Consultant on a part-time basis.
NSTEP is a countywide service with north and south teams. The teams work as one service to deliver NICE concordant care to service users according to national EIP standards. The service continues to develop and expand, supported by recent successful funding bids.
N-STEP accepts referrals for individuals aged 14-65 experiencing first episode psychosis or suspected psychosis, considering each person's needs and risks.
Main duties of the job
* Provide Consultant input to the Early Intervention Team (N-STEP team South).
* Conduct joint urgent, routine, and complex case assessments and management, including new referral assessments within the south N-STEP service, collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
* Play a key role with patients on CTOs and serve as the first contact for potential MHA assessments. Attend tribunal meetings for patients on CTOs. Historically, the average number of CTOs across the service has been 4-6 per year, representing 2-4% of the overall EIP caseload.

Knowledge and Experience
* MRCPsych or equivalent.
* Full GMC Registration.
* On Specialist Register/CCT in General Adult Psychiatry.
* Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act and able to act as Responsible Clinician.
* Minimum of six years postgraduate experience, including three as SpR in approved training or equivalent.
* Postgraduate qualifications or experience in EIP.
* Publication of research or service evaluation/audit projects.
* Management training.
Skills and Abilities
* Excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues, and staff at all levels.
* Ability to present complex information to courts and tribunals.
* Ability to motivate and develop junior medical staff and MDT members.
* Balance individual and organizational requirements.
* Understanding of the political and financial framework of the services.
* Ability to work independently and as part of an MDT.
* Flexibility in a fluid clinical environment.
