Transport Planner / Shipping Coordinator
Location: Derby
Contract: 12-month contract (rolling, likely to extend)
Hours: 37 hours per week | Fully onsite
Pay: Up to £22.41 per hour
About the Role
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Transport Planner / Shipping Coordinator to join a friendly and supportive logistics team based at the East Midlands Gateway. This is a key operational role, responsible for planning and coordinating outbound customer shipments to destinations across the UK and Europe.
This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to develop their experience within transport, shipping, or logistics operations. Full training and clear work instructions will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
* End-to-end planning and coordination of customer shipments
* Ensuring correct paperwork is matched to the correct carrier and customer
* Creation and management of shipping labels using SAP and shipping systems
* Liaising with internal teams, customers, and transport carriers to meet time-critical deadlines
* Completing export and shipping documentation (including labels and shipping notes)
* End-of-day shipping activity, including European declarations and carrier pre-alerts
* Supporting freight invoice processing and resolving discrepancies
* Maintaining accurate records and spreadsheets, with a strong focus on detail
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Excellent organisational and administrative skills
* High level of attention to detail, particularly in pressurised environments
* Confident using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
* Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-focused attitude
Desirable:
* Experience using SAP
* Knowledge of export regulations or customs processes
* Background in logistics, transport planning, warehousing, or administration
Working Pattern
This is a fully onsite role, working a rotating shift pattern once trained:
* Shift 1: Mon–Thu 08:30–16:30 | Fri 08:30–16:00
* Shift 2: Mon–Thu 10:30–18:30 | Fri 11:00–18:30
