This is a senior leadership role responsible for setting and embedding the exposure management agenda across WTW’s Insurance Consulting & Technology (ICT) business. The role shapes how exposure management is integrated into underwriting, portfolio management, and risk decision making for clients across the London Market, international specialty insurance sectors, and General Insurance carriers.
You will lead WTW’s exposure management capability beyond remediation or regulatory response, establishing a forward looking, market credible point of view on exposure, aggregation, and systemic risk. Climate analytics form one component of the remit, but the focus is firmly on enterprise exposure management across property and non property portfolios.
The Role
As Head of Exposure Management, you will:
1. Set the strategic direction for exposure management across WTW ICT, defining frameworks, methodologies, and best practice across property and non‑property classes.
2. Shape how exposure management informs underwriting strategy, portfolio construction, and risk appetite, rather than operating as a standalone technical function.
3. Lead the development and evolution of WTW’s exposure management offerings, including catastrophe, aggregation, and systemic risk analytics, ensuring they remain relevant, credible, and commercially impactful.
4. Provide senior oversight and judgement on complex exposure topics including catastrophe risk, casualty and liability aggregation, cyber, and systemic risks such as climate change, supply chain disruption, and clash.
5. Act as a senior market representative for WTW, contributing to industry dialogue and maintaining strong credibility with insurers, reinsurers, model vendors, and regulators.
6. Oversee governance, oversight, and regulatory‑driven exposure requirements (. Lloyd’s, PRA), ensuring these are addressed pragmatically and proportionately within broader exposure strategies.
7. Lead, develop, and inspire a high‑performing team of exposure management professionals, setting clear direction, standards, and expectations.
You will operate at the intersection of exposure, underwriting portfolio management, and risk, working collaboratively across WTW and with clients to:
8. Advise senior client stakeholders and internal leadership on exposure‑driven trade‑offs, priorities, and decisions.
9. Translate complex exposure and modelling insight into clear, actionable recommendations for executive audiences.
10. Partner with underwriting, capital, pricing, reserving, and risk teams to ensure exposure considerations are embedded into decision‑making processes.
11. Engage constructively with regulators, model vendors, and market bodies where appropriate, bringing balanced judgement and commercial awareness.
12. Sponsor and steer priority client engagements, thematic reviews, and internal initiatives that advance WTW’s exposure management capability.
Thought Leadership & Market Presence
13. Define and champion WTW’s exposure management point of view in the market.
14. Lead or sponsor the development of thought leadership, research, and market insight that positions WTW as a trusted authority in exposure and portfolio risk.
15. Represent WTW in senior industry forums, working groups, and client discussions, building long‑term credibility and influence.
This role offers the opportunity to:
16. Shape how exposure management is practised and valued across the business and the wider market.
17. Move beyond “fixing broken processes” into strategic influence and industry leadership.
18. Work at senior level across underwriting, risk, and portfolio decision‑making.
19. Build and lead a market‑credible exposure management capability within WTW.
