Post CCT Clinical Fellow in Neuromuscular Disorders

This is a whole-time fixed term post of 2 years with the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. The appointee will provide intermediate grade support to the neuromuscular consultant neurologist and the team appropriate to their level of experience. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a special interest in neuromuscular disorders.
The appointee would be expected to play a full part in the clinical, research and teaching of the neuromuscular team and the governance activities of the directorate.
A medical degree or a diploma from a recognised UK or overseas university or institution or equivalent is essential and candidates must have clinical training and experience near or equivalent to that required for gaining CCT in Neurology. The post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The post is at the level of a speciality registrar (ST6 +) or post CCT level.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will undertake three outpatient clinics per week and will participate in the delivery of clinical trials within the neuromuscular service.

The duties of this post are equivalent to a Specialty Registrar ST6+ / Post CCT level.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered (or eligible to be registered) with the GMC with a licence to practise
* Medical Degree from a recognised UK or overseas university of institution
* MRCP or equivalent.
* Distinctions, awards, prizes, scholarships or other degrees
Clinical Experience
* In Neurology training programme/ near completion of Training/ post CCT
* Speciality registrar (ST6 +) or post CCT level
* CCT or equivalent in Neurology or Neurophysiology
Research
* Willingness to contribute to research activities
* Integrates appropriate research findings into clinical practice
* Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate
* Publications in Peer reviewed journals
Teaching and Training
* Experience of teaching medical students and junior doctors
* Willingness to contribute to teaching activities
* Experience in provision of clinical teaching or training
* To have the ability and willingness to teach at all levels and to all groups of staff
Continuous Professional Development
* Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
* Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio

* Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values
* The applicant must demonstrate skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking the English language that enables effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues as set out in the GMC' good medical practice (2013).
