We are working on behalf of a well-regarded secondary school in Rochdale to recruit an experienced Deputy Head of Year. This is a full-time, permanent position starting in May 2026, offering an excellent opportunity for a pastoral professional to further develop their career within a supportive school environment.
As Deputy Head of Year, you will support the Head of Year in leading the pastoral provision for a designated year group. You will play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour, improving attendance, and ensuring students are fully supported both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Head of Year in the day-to-day management of the year group
Monitor and track student attendance, behaviour, and progress
Provide targeted pastoral support and early intervention where required
Build strong relationships with students, parents/carers, and staff
Requirements:
Previous experience working in a pastoral or similar role within a school setting (essential)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism and empathy
Organised, proactive, and committed to student wellbeing
