Hours per week: 37, Monday – Friday, 09:00 - 17:00
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 3 months
Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 1RF
Hybrid working, 1-2 days per week in office
Basic DBS required for this role
To be accountable for the management of the housing and Public Protection Business support team, analysts and housing complaints and review officer. To effectively lead and oversee various transformation projects as assigned. To provide support to the leadership, management and delivery of the Housing and Public Protection Service, be part of the management team and support the Assistant Director for Housing and Public Protection as required.
Qualifications
* Level 5 or 6 in a subject area relevant to this post for example, Level 5 Diploma Housing Studies, BA Housing Studies, Batchelor Business Administration, BSc Hons Environmental health and/or proven experience at a mid‑senior level in housing management or public protection with a background in strategic planning, project management, ICT or transformation projects.
Skills & Experience required
* A local authority background
* Team Management across LA services (ideally complaints management or environmental health. A background in regulatory side of things, so that's environmental health trading standards or similar.
* Licensing experience (which is EH related mainly) and in a management capacity.
* A comprehensive understanding and awareness of housing or public protection issues, and of government policy relating to housing and public protection strategy.
* Experience of managing people, budgets and teams to achieve high performance and efficient services.
* Experience of leading a service which delivers high standards of customer service.
* Experience of delivering service and policy improvements.
Key Responsibilities
* Key technology and ICT development projects within the service
* Responsibility for the governance of officer delegations (Part 5 of the constitution)
* Oversee development of analyst functions, production of needs assessments and performance dashboards
* Oversee responses to FOIs, member enquiries and complaints
* Oversee responses to statutory reviews and appeals under housing legislation
* Oversee legal appeals as required
* Responsible for the effective day to day management and financial and performance monitoring of any contracts in line with the requirements set out in Part 8A of the Council’s Constitution.
