Cooper Lomaz is working with a Finance Practice that offers a wide range of accounting, tax, and advisory services to clients across various industries. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Manager to join our client's General Practice team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing client relationships, overseeing the preparation of financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Applicants should have commercial experience working within a Practice environment and be ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent, with a solid knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Key responsibilities include:
Audit and Accounting:
* Accountable for providing accounting services, including corporate and personal tax returns, and special services for a portfolio of clients with annual fees exceeding £120,000.
* Providing projections and forecasting information.
* Reviewing and producing VAT returns, offering in-depth advice to clients.
* Managing budgets and compliance processes.
* Utilising various paperless software applications.
* Preparing budgets for accounts work.
* Handling Company Secretarial duties.
Client Management:
* Managing a portfolio of clients.
* Developing and maintaining client relationships through regular contact.
* Identifying opportunities for additional services.
* Enhancing the profile of the business.
* Demonstrating confident, accurate, and reliable accounting knowledge during client interactions.
* Engaging with senior staff/partners to understand business operations.
* Supporting marketing activities and attending networking events.
* Liaising with business owners and staff.
Tax Compliance / VAT:
* Reviewing VAT return forms.
* Communicating with clients regarding VAT submissions to HMRC.
* Reviewing self-assessment and business tax returns, including capital gains and property income schedules.
* Using computerised tax software to produce returns and calculations.
Payroll:
* Reviewing P11D and other payroll advice and services.
Staff Management:
* Reviewing junior staff work, ensuring quality and compliance.
* Delegating tasks effectively.
* Implementing partner decisions promptly.
* Fostering a culture of continuous development.
