We're looking for an exceptional Early Careers People Leader to help us make a difference to our planet.
As our Early Careers People Leader, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.
Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week. Our people are at the heart of what we do and we'll do our best to agree a working pattern that works for everyone.
Whilst this is a temporary position for two years, there is potential for it to develop into a permanent position.

The Technology directorate is at the forefront of ensuring the Met Office uses cutting-edge technology to deliver the most value to the organisation, underpinning the reliable delivery of our world class services to customers and ensuring our world leading science capability can be fully exploited to help people make better decisions to stay safe and thrive.
Your role as the Early Careers People Leader is to effectively lead and manage early career members of the Technology directorate on placement, apprenticeship and development schemes, empowering and enabling them to develop in their role. Typically, a People Leader would expect to manage between 15 and 20 members of staff. The Technology Early Careers People Leader will also play a major part in the recruitment of early career staff and work with other teams to enhance the development schemes.
Your key duties:
* As an enthusiastic leader and role model, manage and lead early career staff such that they are engaged, motivated and inspired as they progress on their journey with the Met Office.
* Provide Line Management for the early careers posts within the Technology directorate and managed the full employee lifecycle including driving any required early careers recruitment.
* Work with early careers staff in your team to ensure that they are all feel engaged, satisfied and developed. Invest time in developing relationships with all team members, taking time to understand their motivations and what energises them, identify their training needs, to enable unlocking their potential and promoting a culture of development and progression within the organisation.
* Ensure the team are aligned to all corporate standards and people management processes.
* Work and communicate, at the appropriate level, with the wider Technology and People Leadership Teams to support and promote the staff and develop the early careers programmes.
* Effectively deliver people management objectives and pursue own development.We operate an on-call roster in Technology to provide 24/7/365 support to respond to operational service requirements.

As our Early Careers People Leader, your total reward package will be up to £58,419 annually, which includes:
* £41,725 base pay
* An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
* Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave

2. Evidence of being an Expert by Nature by demonstrating your experience of leading a team aligning with corporate and people standards, with evidence of when and how you have motivated the team members in a positive way and how you have developed them.
3. Show you Live and Breathe It with evidence of utilising tools and techniques to better evidence staff recruitment, staff performance and identifying development opportunities and managing performance
4. Show that you are Better Togetherwith evidence of developing effective and well-functioning teams and liaising with wider communities for sharing and identifying best practices.
5. Show that you Keep Evolving with evidence of your willingness to engage and contribute towards the development of new capabilities and ways of working and evident passion for people management.
