Trainee Teaching Assistant – SEN School (Personal Care Required) ABC Teachers are currently recruiting for a Trainee Teaching Assistant to work full-time in specialist SEN schools. This opportunity is ideal for individuals with experience in care, support work, healthcare, mental health, or social care who are looking to transition into an education setting. As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you will support students with Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), helping them access learning and develop important life skills. ⚠️ Important: Many of the students require personal care and physical support, therefore applicants must have previous experience providing personal care and feel confident delivering this support within a school environment. This Trainee Teaching Assistant position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm. The Role As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you will: • Provide classroom support on a 1:1 basis and in small groups • Assist pupils with ASC, SLD and PMLD in their learning and daily routines • Support students with personal care needs, including toileting and hygiene • Help pupils manage behaviour and emotional regulation • Work alongside teachers to deliver adapted learning activities • Contribute to a safe, structured and supportive classroom environment This is a hands-on and rewarding role where patience, empathy and resilience are key.
