Cochlear Implant Keyworker (Highly Specialist Speech and language Therapist or Specialist Teacher of the Deaf) - hours per week
The main purpose of this role is to provide the highly specialist clinical role of Cochlear Implant Keyworker. This includes working with patients and families during the assessment process, and providing post-operative rehabilitation and support. This role is part of a multidisciplinary team providing a cochlear implant service to the North East region and excellent communication within the team is paramount. A significant part of the service delivery may be on a domiciliary basis, either in the home or education settings, and hence the post-holder is home based.
Main duties of the job
This role involves highly specialist patient care. All such care will be provided in an effective, caring and compassionate services to patients.
The post holder is required to abide by the NHS values and the Constitution.
Successful candidate must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role.

Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
5. Qualified Teacher status, plus qualified Teacher of the Deaf,or Degree and Certificate to Practice in Speech and Language Therapy
6. Qualified Teacher of the Deaf Or Completion of a recognised Speech and Language course
7. CACDP British Sign Language Level 1
Desirable criteria
8. CACDP British Sign language level 2
Knowledge & Skills
Essential criteria
9. Excellent communication skills to enable building good rapports with colleagues, patients and their families
10. Teaching and training skills
Desirable criteria
11. Basic knowledge of Audiology to include interpretation of audiograms, test techniques, hearing aid basics and troubleshooting
Experience
Essential criteria
12. Experience of working with the hearing impaired
13. Experience of working with pre-school children
14. Experience of working closely with families
15. Significant post-qualification experience as either a Teacher of the Deaf or Speech and Language Therapist
