COMPLIANCE MANAGER (GLOBAL IMPORT AND DISTRIBUTION MANUFACTURING COMPANY)
Salary: £45K
Location: Manchester
Our client is a global importer and distributor of homeware, supplying multiple high street retailers in the UK and internationally. They are seeking an experienced COMPLIANCE MANAGER to join their team based at their head offices in Manchester. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in an import/distribution global supply chain business.
Purpose of the role: Analyze business compliance methods and ensure all operations comply with local, state, and federal laws, as well as laws governing business practices. The Compliance Manager will review responses to official inquiries and correspondence with government agencies to ensure completeness and appropriateness.
Duties include:
* Establish SOPs across the business and manage them using ISO 9001 standards.
* Ensure compliance with the Modern Slavery Act.
* Oversee GDPR compliance.
* Report packaging usage.
* Educate and train managers and staff to adhere to regulatory compliance, improving existing systems.
* Vendor/mill compliance oversight.
* Support and advise on product safety standards and compliance.
* Provide technical support for hospitality as needed.
* Manage other related projects, such as inventory counts for retail.
Business Compliance responsibilities:
* GDPR training and compliance.
* Legal documentation support.
* Assist with data transfer procedures for international business to ensure security.
Skills required:
* Proven experience in quality control or corporate policy auditing.
* ISO 9001 experience preferred.
* Advanced skills in computer databases and Microsoft Office.
* Strong understanding of regulations affecting manufacturing companies.
* Excellent reporting, record-keeping, and communication skills.
Qualifications and professional certifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field (desirable).
* Experience in global import/export supply chain manufacturing.
* GDPR training and compliance knowledge.
* Legal documentation expertise.
* Understanding of international data transfer and safeguarding procedures.
