The Role
An exciting opportunity has become available within Fresh Futures’ SEN Team. We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant SEN Provision lead to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the SEN Provision Lead to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality SEN provision across all three sites. Working collaboratively with staff, external professionals, and wider multi‑agency teams, the postholder will help coordinate and monitor SEN support, maintain compliance with statutory requirements, and contribute to the continuous improvement of inclusive practice. This role is key in driving consistency, supporting staff development, and ensuring that the needs of all learners with SEN are met effectively, to support our organisation’s mission.

Why the role exits and overall responsibility

* Lead on the EHCP consultation process, ensuring compliance with the statutory 15-day response timeframe.
* Work closely with senior leaders, families, and external professionals to support fair and thorough assessments.
* Present recommendations on the college’s capacity to meet individual needs in line with the Equality Act 2010 and the SEN Code of Practice 2015.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, carers, and professionals, acting as a key link between staff and families regarding SEN matters.
* Work across the college’s three provisions to support the SEN Provision Lead in embedding high-quality, inclusive SEN provision.
* Ensure that SEN practices align with the Ofsted framework and promote positive outcomes for all learners.
* Lead on the EHCP Consultation process and TACs
* Assist the SEN Provision Lead in leading and developing the provision for students with SEN across the college.
* Collate and analyse SEN data, monitoring student progress and attainment.
* Monitor and evaluate student responses to learning activities, providing feedback to teachers and evidence of progress.
* Working alongside the SEN Provision Lead and wider staff team to ensure that current EHCPs, MSPs, or equivalent plans are used to inform initial IPMs and align appropriately with the college’s pathways. This includes ensuring that outcomes are effectively broken down into SMART, achievable targets, and supporting the SEN Provision Lead in quality‑assuring these plans through ongoing review and evaluation. To maintain and be aware at all times of the SEN register and profile sheets.
* Attend/lead and prepare paperwork for annual review meetings.
* Attend/lead meetings with external agencies as directed by the SEN provision Lead.
* Keep accurate and detailed records of meetings and communications with parents, carers, and external professionals.
* Advise and update staff on students’ SEN needs, highlighting areas for development and support.

Knowledge, training and experience required

* English and Maths at Level 2 / GCSE (Grade C/4 or above).
* At least 2 years’ experience within an educational setting, preferably an Alternative Provision or Independent Inclusion School.
* At least 2 years’ experience supporting and promoting the learning and wellbeing of children with SEMH and other SEN needs.
* Knowledge and experience of SEMH needs affecting children and young people.
* Knowledge of the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process.
* Experience in developing, reviewing, and embedding Individual Provision Maps (IPMs).
* Understanding of wider safeguarding frameworks and multi‑agency working.
* Awareness of the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the Equality Act (2010).
* Experience contributing to or supporting staff training in SEND practice.
* Experience using MIS programmes such as provision mapping tools and CPOMS
