The adults on your caseload will all have a Learning Disability, some may have multiple co-morbidities such as Downs Syndrome & Dementia and complex communication difficulties. You will see a large variety of physical conditions, working in collaboration with both health and social care partners to meet the needs of this vulnerable group.
You will have a range of clinical experience, ideally including Respiratory, Neurology, Orthopaedics and musculoskeletal. You will be an excellent communicator, have a high level of organisational skills and be able to demonstrate good clinical reasoning.

The physiotherapy service is based at Lynebank Hospital, Dunfermline and provides input to adults living across the Fife community as part of a larger multidisciplinary team, and a small number of inpatients. The team has access to hydrotherapy and rebound therapy facilities to support rehabilitation and have strong links with the local frame running group. We also have a green gym on site to promote physical activity.
The adult learning disability Physiotherapy team has strong links with children & young people, MSK & pain management physiotherapy teams who are all within the same portfolio.
As a Band 6 you will provide clinical support and mentorship to physiotherapy support workers within the team and Physiotherapy students. Protected Learning Time is also incorporated into your job plan with good support for career development. Experience working with people with Learning Disabilities is not essential, but a desire to work with this client group and a knowledge and understanding of their needs is important. The ability to travel throughout Fife during the working day is essential to this post.
With its vibrant fishing villages, magnificent beaches and peaceful countryside, Fife is a great place to develop your career with the NHS. Steeped in history with many local restaurants, shops and opportunities for sporting activities, Fife has something to offer everyone. Its excellent transport links ensure easy access to Edinburgh, Dundee and Scotland’s other major towns and cities.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.
As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK websitehere.
For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be foundhere.
It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsoredBEFORE submitting your application form.
We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
