We are looking for a Children’s play worker for an ongoing temporary contract working in a domestic abuse refuge based in North Birmingham. This could lead to a permanent position for the right person.
Established nearly 13 years ago, it is one of the few refuges in the area that is able to accommodate larger size families that includes male and female children up to the age of 17 years old. With strong links with a range of organisations and agencies across the borough it has developed partnerships with key stakeholders who are involved in raising awareness of domestic abuse and all its forms. These include Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid, West Midlands Police, CAFCASS, Children’s Services, Social Services, Victim Support and many others.

• Flexible working – could be some evening and weekend work based in Birmingham The children range from birth to 17 years
• To work alongside another children's worker delivering: • Play sessions • Homework club • Holiday club • Planning half term and delivering sessions • Working with mums and external agencies.
For this role you must -
• Be able to communicate effectively with victims of abuse over the phone and face to face.
• To cover the office and be the face of the service. Communicate with external agencies, service users and victors.
• Be able to use IT packages
• Able to lead, chair organise meetings and type minutes to meetings.
• Have a childcare qualification such as BTEC/ NNEB/ NVQ etc
