Overview
An exciting opportunity for highly motivated and adaptive Sonographers to join our ultrasound team. The posts are based at the Royal London Hospital with cross-site rotation to St Bartholomew’s and Mile End Hospital. Salary – Band 7 inc. HCAS and £5,000 short term RRP (pro-rata reviewed annually). Contract: Band 7 (7 days, 12-hour contract). Location: Based at the RLH with cross-site rotation to St Bartholomew’s and Mile End Hospital.
We welcome applications from Sonographers with multiple skillsets with experience to scan General, MSK, Small parts, DVT, Gynaecology and Obstetrics ultrasound. Obstetrics ultrasound experience is essential for this post. All successful candidates will be supported by a preceptorship program based on their level of experience and skills. Candidates must hold either a Pg Cert / Dip / MSc or DMU qualification in Medical Ultrasound and professional registration with a statutory regulated body (such as the HCPC) or the Register for Clinical Technologists. Successful candidates will provide a 7-day service with 12-hour days, working 8am-8pm shift pattern over 7 days planned on a rolling rota to meet service demand. Novel ways of working and role expansion to develop enhanced and advanced clinical pathways are both supported and encouraged. Interviews will be face to face with a clinical assessment after the interview for each candidate.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary Imaging team, ensuring appropriate imaging, reporting and patient management across The Royal London Hospital, St Bartholomew’s Hospital and Mile End Hospital.
* Maintain high professional and technical standards of ultrasound imaging, adhering to established quality standards and Ultrasound guidelines (BMUS, RCOG, RCR, NICE).
* Deliver ultrasound imaging and reporting within departmental protocols as a practitioner in patient care.
* Liaise with Lead Nurses, Obstetricians, Gynecologists in Women’s Health Division, and Radiologists in the General Ultrasound Department.
* In the absence of a Lead Sonographer, oversee day-to-day workload and allocate staff and resources effectively.
* Promote patient advocacy and communicate effectively with other health care professionals and external agencies regarding patient care and progress.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Experience in scanning General, MSK, Small parts, DVT, Gynaecology and Obstetrics ultrasound; Obstetrics experience is essential.
* Qualification in Medical Ultrasound: PgCert, PgDip, MSc or DMU; professional registration with HCPC or Register for Clinical Technologists.
* Ability to work a 7-day service with 12-hour days (8am–8pm) on a rolling rota; willingness to adopt new ways of working and contribute to advanced clinical pathways.
