The role
General Stockperson
General Stockperson – Free Range Poultry Enterprise - £34,000 - Staffordshire
The Job:
This is a hands on position working within a free range poultry operation, assisting with the production of table birds from day old chicks through to final depopulation.
Key responsibilities:
- Daily stock checks to ensure excellent health and welfare standards
- Monitoring and maintaining the correct environment for birds
- Bedding up poultry houses
- Feeding and general livestock husbandry duties
- Washing and cleaning sheds
- Preparing sheds for incoming flocks
- Operating and driving farm machinery
- Assisting with catching duties as part of a rota system
- Maintaining high standards of biosecurity and farm presentation
The Company:
Our client is a successful family run farming business that has been operating in Staffordshire for over 80 years. Built on a foundation of passion, respect and excellence, the business has grown and evolved through generations while remaining committed to high standards of animal welfare, sustainability and quality food production.
Their free range poultry enterprise supplies premium table ready chickens to butchers and farm shops throughout the UK. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking a motivated and enthusiastic General Stockperson to join their team.
The Candidate:
- Previous farm or livestock experience would be advantageous but is not essential
- Positive, enthusiastic, and proactive attitude
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
- Good attention to detail and commitment to animal welfare
- Full training will be provided for the right candidate
Hours:
- Approximately 50 hours per week
- Alternate weekend working
- Participation in a rota for catching duties
- Permanent position
- Immediate start available
The Package:
- Salary £34,000 per annum DOE
- 28 days holiday per year
- Additional 1 day's holiday for each completed year of service (up to 5 additional days)
- Accommodation available in the form of a mobile home
- Full training and development provided

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
