Wonderly is recruiting for a Picture/Licensing Editor across our portfolio of clients. We represent global brands and are looking for a creative but highly organised individual who can balance multiple projects whilst maintaining our creative quality.
The role entails working at the heart of the editorial and creative teams sourcing, clearing rights, and negotiating fees for visual assets (photography, video, illustrations) across print, digital, and social media platforms. Acting as the bridge between teams, photographers, and stock agencies, ensuring all visuals are high-quality, legally compliant, and within budget.
Responsibilities
* Visual storytelling: Proactively finding powerful images via commercial stock libraries, private collections, archives, and independent photographers to hit specific briefs.
* Licensing & Rights Negotiation: Securing, clearing, and negotiating reproduction rights and fees with photo agencies, artists, and photographers.
* Legal Compliance & Risk Management: Ensuring all visual content complies with copyright laws, and image rights (including model/property releases) to avoid legal pitfalls. Understanding when we can assign copyright to clients or advising clients on additional rights usage.
* Budgeting & Administration: Managing image budgets, processing invoices, raising Purchase Orders (POs), and keeping accurate financial records of licenses.
* Technical Compliance: Ensuring all sourced images meet resolution standards (300 dpi for print, 72‑144 dpi for web) and use the correct colour profiles (CMYK vs. RGB).
Skills / Experience / Knowledge / Minimum Criteria
* Experience: Usually 3–5+ years in photo research, picture editing, or syndication.
* Technical Proficiency: Good knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, DAM systems, and CMS platforms.
* Knowledge of Copyright Law: Strong understanding of UK and international image rights, licensing agreements, and artist rights.
* Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate best prices and contract terms.
* Fast‑Paced Working: Capable of working under tight deadlines, managing multiple projects, and working as part of a team.
