We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
Responsibilities
You will be the strategic lead for how we manage financial investigations to fulfil our obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). You will be proactive with a strong focus on continually improving and enhancing our work processes.
You will manage two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer. Provide strong leadership, motivate and develop your team, and manage performance and delivery.
You will work collaboratively with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships and Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC). You will influence at a senior level to ensure Environment Agency priorities are recognised by other enforcement agencies.
In addition to ECU duties, you will support the wider organisation in improving how we work and increasing understanding of POCA. You will share lessons learned, contribute to changes in technical documentation, and advise enforcement officers nationwide.
The Economic Crime Unit comprises two teams – Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigations Team. It includes Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers, and Crime Analysts. The unit is nationally dispersed and handles serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Experience / Skills Required
You must have exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience in leading a dispersed team. You should have a good understanding of financial investigations and POCA.
* Experience in the law enforcement sector and an understanding of the National Intelligence Model
* Effective communication including delivering feedback, managing performance and building relationships with external stakeholders
* Ability to work under pressure and prioritise a varied workload
* Identifying areas for improvement and leading changes to working practices
* Developing and enhancing the capability of a team and the individuals within it
Contact and Additional Information
This is a hybrid role; you’ll work from home and your nearest office. Travel across the country for meetings and operational duties may be required. Incident response is a central part of our work, and you may be required to take on an incident role or support business continuity during incidents. Training and workplace adjustments will be available.
