Cheshire East Legal Services has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our busy team as a Legal Support Officer. Our team provides legal advice, support and guidance to Local Authority colleagues, as ell as elected members and stakeholders across the full range of services delivered by Cheshire East Council. About you Working alongside our Practice Manager, you will support the service to deliver a range of legal matters in order to protect and advance the interests of the Local Authority and to meet the required standards and deadlines. Your role will include undertaking legal administrative tasks and supporting the Managers and Lawyers in the team to run an efficient and high-quality legal service. Responsibilities will include maintaining administrative and financial records and files, collating documentation, drafting correspondence, conducting standard legal processes, liaising with colleagues across legal services, general clerical tasks, and the processing of invoices. The role is diverse with no one day the same, for more information on the role please view the 'In this job you will' section within the attached job description specification document. The successful candidate will have: • 4 GCES's at grade C or above, with at least two of these being English and Maths • Relevant practical legal work experience (but this is not a re-requisite) • Be computer literate with good IT skills and able to effectively use databases and Microsoft Office applications • Be able to manage routine and more specialised administrative tasks with minimal supervision • Be flexible and to be able to work in a fast-paced financial environment where deadlines and priorities may change • Be able to work on your own initiative, as well as being part of a wider legal team, plan and prioritise competing workloads • Have the ambition for career progression within the legal team when opportunities arise In return we are able to offer: • Enhanced annual leave - Start with an impressive 34 days of annual leave (including bank holidays) from day one, and watch it grow to 39 days after just five years of service • Purchase of annual leave – Want more time off?
