We have an exciting opportunity in our Homelessness Prevention Team for a passionate professional to help us deliver increased and enhanced homeless prevention work, focussing on working with single adults with complex needs. This opportunity would be an ideal secondment opportunity for a person working within the homelessness sector in Oxford and who has experience of working with complex individuals to prevent and relieve homelessness.
As an Options Officer, you will work as part of a team delivering homelessness prevention services in the Council. Your focus will be to ensure that single adults who are at risk of becoming homeless, or currently experiencing homelessness, are given the support and assistance they need to stay in their existing home or find an alternative accommodation solution. Your work will involve working with individuals seeking assistance from the Council, and an important part of your role will be to work with housing providers in Oxford (including supported accommodation providers), to identify people at risk, work to understand the individual customers’ needs, and work with others to make proactive interventions.
You will have a good understanding of the housing challenges in Oxford, and in particular those facing single people with multiple disadvantages. You will have good experience of delivering excellent customer service in a person-centred way and have a can-do and solution focussed attitude.
You will be required to visit applicants across Oxford to complete assessments, carry out enquiries under part VII of the Housing Act, and apply legislation, case law and in accordance with the code of guidance to make sure housing duties. If you do not have previous experience of this, training will be provided.
