Classroom Assistant – Farnborough – Milk Education
Milk Education is looking for a compassionate and reliable Classroom Assistant to join a specialist school supporting students aged 11–16 with Autism and associated behavioural and communication needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in children’s lives by supporting their learning, wellbeing, and personal development in a caring environment.
The Role
As a Classroom Assistant, you’ll help ensure every child has the best chance to reach their full potential. This includes:
1. Supporting children with learning and general wellbeing, helping them feel safe and confident
2. Using positive behaviour management techniques to support challenging behaviour where needed, tailored to individual children
3. Contributing to risk assessments and behaviour support strategies to help children access education and develop life skills
4. Building positive, warm, and supportive relationships with pupils to encourage independence, personal development, and enjoyment in learning
5. Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering engaging, differentiated activities to meet the needs of all learners
6. Being flexible and ready to support wherever needed, as SEN environments often require a hands-on and adaptable approach
Experience & Qualifications
We would love to hear from you if you have:
7. Experience working with children with SEN, either in an employed or voluntary setting
8. A recognised Level 2 (or above) qualification in Support Work for Teaching & Learning in Schools, or equivalent (desirable)
9. GCSEs in Maths and English (C / 4 or Functional Skills Level 2)
10. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles
11. Knowledge or experience of working with children with SEN, SEMH, or ASD
12. Ability to provide consistent, patient support and treat every child as an individual
13. Creativity and positivity in meeting pupils’ individual needs
14. Willingness to be part of the school’s behaviour support approach, including accredited Team Teach where necessary
15. Ability to complete reports accurately and on time
