Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon to join our team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, based at Basildon University Hospital.
You will be expected to deliver an efficient Consultant level oncoplastic breast service of the highest possible quality and promote clinical research, trials, and innovation within MSEFT.
You will be supported by a strong multidisciplinary team including breast radiologists, oncologists, plastic surgeons, histopathologists, radiographers, clinical nurse specialists and breast-specific health care assistants. The team is supported by an MDT co-ordinator.
Patient initiated follow-up (PIFU) is arranged through our established nurse-led open-access follow-up system, supported by an administrator.
The unit is supported by a unit counsellor and lymphoedema therapists. Genetic services are provided through Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Weekly breast MDT are convened in Basildon Thursday 08:00-10:30. To provide clinical services in line with the Trust\'s clinical governance arrangements which is designed to ensure that agreed quality standards are achieved. These requirements include:
Responsibilities
* To undertake audit of clinical practice within the department to ensure that current standards and evidence-based practice are applied.
* Deliver high-quality consultant-level oncoplastic breast services and promote clinical research, trials, and innovation within MSEFT.
* Work with a strong multidisciplinary team including breast radiologists, oncologists, plastic surgeons, histopathologists, radiographers, clinical nurse specialists and breast-specific health care assistants; supported by an MDT co-ordinator.
* Provide patient initiated follow-up (PIFU) through the nurse-led open-access follow-up system, supported by an administrator.
* Collaborate with unit counsellor, lymphoedema therapists, and genetic services (provided through Great Ormond Street Hospital).
* Attend the weekly breast MDT in Basildon ( Thursdays 08:00-10:30 ).
* Provide clinical services in line with the Trust\'s clinical governance arrangements to ensure agreed quality standards are achieved.
* Maintain and develop clinical skills; participate in continuing professional development (CPD) with time (1.5 PA) and financial support provided.
* Embrace flexible working patterns, including potential 7-day working in the future; the job plan will be reviewed at intervals following initial appointment.
* Contribute to the Trust\'s ambition to deliver excellent local and specialist services, improve patient health and well-being, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop and build careers.
* Support recruitment and retention of specialist staff across the Trust.
* Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per year (pro rata for part-time).
