EPD Engineer – Mechanical Design

We’re looking for an EPD Engineer to join a growing product development team within a well-established manufacturer of specialist engineered products. Working closely with colleagues across Design, Production, Quality, and Supply, you’ll play a key role in keeping products performing at their best while driving improvements for the future.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Owning sustaining engineering across a range of products, tackling factory and field issues and delivering permanent fixes
2. Using SolidWorks to update and improve drawings, specs, BOMs and routings
3. Leading change control (ECR/ECN) and maintaining accurate product data in PDM/ERP systems
4. Partnering with Production to improve build processes and ensure right-first-time manufacturing
5. Delivering value engineering – finding smarter, safer and more cost-effective design solutions
6. Building quick prototypes, testing updates, and handing over robust designs into production
7. Collaborating with Quality teams to close out NCRs/CAPAs and prevent reoccurrence
About you:
8. At least 3 years’ experience in an engineering design role – this is not a graduate role
9. Strong SolidWorks user with proven CAD skills (3D & 2D, BS8888 standards)
10. Background in mechanical assemblies, ideally with exposure to plastics, extrusion, machining or electronics
11. Hands-on approach – comfortable with prototypes, fixtures and testing
12. Confident communicator who enjoys working cross-functionally and under time pressure
13. Relevant qualification (BEng/BSc or equivalent)
The benefits:
14. Salary circa £40,000 (flexible depending on experience)
15. Flexible working hours – e.g. 7–4 or standard 8–5
16. Hybrid working (up to 2 days per week remote)
