We're Grow to School CIC—and we’re on the lookout for someone who shares our love for the outdoors, has a flair for engaging children, and can deliver inspiring food-growing and nature-based learning sessions in schools across West Yorkshire, especially in the Bradford and Leeds areas.
As our new Outdoor Learning and Food Growing Practitioner, you’ll:
* Deliver exciting curriculum-linked outdoor learning and food-growing sessions to primary schools.
* Work with whole classes, small groups (especially those with SEND/SEMH needs), and garden clubs.
* Adapt activities to meet a wide range of abilities and support inclusive education.
* Plan sessions using our resources (like the Growbag and curriculum-based packs) and contribute your own creativity.
* Liaise with school staff and help run occasional family and community events.
* Keep records, evaluations, and photo evidence of your work—and share it to help spread the word about what we do!
* Attend occasional conferences and help shout about our impact.
* Follow our values around safeguarding, inclusivity, and environmental care.
We’re looking for someone who has:
* Experience of working with children in school settings.
* Great communication skills and the confidence to manage groups (up to 37 children, with teacher support).
* Experience of safeguarding, behaviour management, and working with pupils with SEMH or SEND needs.
* A love for the natural world and a passion for hands-on learning.
* The ability to plan, adapt, and deliver fun, inclusive outdoor sessions.
* Basic IT and admin skills (Word, Excel, email, etc.).
* A driving licence and access to a car.
* Willingness to complete a DBS check and work flexibly.
We’d love it if you also have:
* Experience delivering outdoor learning, nature-based or gardening activities.
* Knowledge of how outdoor learning links with curriculum goals.
* First aid certification.
* Experience with community engagement and disadvantaged groups.
* Familiarity with Health & Safety protocols in outdoor learning.
* A qualification in education (degree or equivalent experience counts!).
* 14 hours a week, at least 10 days per half term (fixed-term termtime only contract for 1 academic year with real potential to extend!)
* Flexibility: freelance or PAYE
* A bonus day off for your birthday, your dog’s birthday, or your wedding—your pick!
* Work that aligns with your values and helps shape future generations
