Overview
We are seeking a driven and enthusiastic practitioner to join Catch22 Surrey Young People's Substance Use Service (SYPSUS). This role will focus on providing substance use interventions to children and young people (C&YP) who are accessing support from certain services within Surrey Mindworks. The successful candidate will help shape and develop the role and contribute to service development.
Responsibilities
* Develop and embed links/pathways between services, working directly with children and young people who are accessing Mindworks Surrey.
* Provide sustained support to a pre‑defined caseload of young people, referred through effective assessment and care planning.
* Act as a link worker between Mindworks and Catch22 SYPSUS, ensuring delivery of an integrated provision for children and young people.
* Deliver therapeutic interventions, such as brief solution‑focused and motivational interviewing, and contribute to systemic practice.
* Provide consultation and guidance alongside Surrey Mindworks colleagues.
* Assess levels of presenting risk associated with substance use, and support risk management.
* Deliver training and workshops with SYPSUS colleagues to upskill staff.
* Identify and develop resources to support professionals working with children and young people with substance use issues.
Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant qualification such as youth work, counselling, health and social care, or equivalent experience in therapeutic delivery.
* Good communication, organisational and ICT skills.
Desired Skills and Competencies
* Knowledge and competency in delivering young people's substance use interventions.
* Understanding or direct experience supporting C&YP dealing with emotional wellbeing and mental health.
* Ability to maintain high‑standard, timely record‑keeping in line with Catch22 delivery outcomes and procedures.
* Evidence of high‑quality engagement and support to young people and families.
* Strong collaboration, constructive communication and effective partnership working with colleagues and partner agencies.
Work Details and Benefits
Salary: Up to £27,000
Hours of Work: 37 hours per week
Contract: Full time
Flexible working available (main office in Leatherhead). Roles cover both West Surrey and East Surrey. An up‑to‑date driving licence, vehicle, MOT and business insurance required.
