Job summary

We have an exciting part time Respiratory Physiotherapist within our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service.

To work in the community as a member of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service, with responsibility for providing specialist assessment and treatment to patients with chronic respiratory disease. Patient conditions include Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Bronchiectasis, Interstitial Lung Disease and Asthma. The aim of is to provide a holistic approach to:

Maintain or improve symptoms

Promote patient self-management

Reduce the frequency of exacerbations

Improve functional ability

Enhance quality of life


Main duties of the job

Following comprehensive assessment, to provide specialist exercise therapy and education to patients referred to the Coastal Community Respiratory Service, Pulmonary rehabilitation team. To provide supervision and education of junior staff and undergraduate students on placement. To undertake clinical audit and service development as necessary.

Following appropriate training, complete oxygen assessments and prescription in line with line with clinical guidelines and local pathways.

CLINICAL

To undertake advanced assessment of patients with diverse or complex physical, psychological, cognitive and behavioural conditions in order to deliver appropriate exercise therapy.
