Overview
This is a hands‑on, people‑focused role where no two days are the same. Based at Bruton Park, you'll be working in a community setting that supports individuals who may have experienced homelessness or difficult life circumstances. You'll be a consistent, supportive presence, helping residents feel safe, valued, and empowered as they rebuild confidence, develop independent living skills, and move towards more stable futures.
Responsibilities
* Building positive, trusting relationships with residents
* Supporting people to develop independent living skills (cooking, cleaning, budgeting, tenancy management)
* Encouraging access to education, volunteering, apprenticeships, and employment
* Helping residents connect with key services (healthcare, mental health, benefits, substance misuse support)
* Creating a safe, calm and supportive environment overnight
* Keeping accurate records using IT systems
Qualifications
* You don't need to have done this exact job before but you do need the right mindset.
* Empathy and a genuine understanding of people facing homelessness
* Resilience and the ability to stay calm in challenging situations
* Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
* A proactive, self‑motivated approach
* Basic IT skills (training provided on systems)
* Relevant experience or qualifications in housing, social care, or youth work are helpful—but not essential.
