We are seeking a motivated Compliance & Maintenance Technician to support our Family Service Centres alongside the compliance and repairs teams. You will carry out building maintenance, health and safety compliance, fire alarm and emergency system testing, and legionella monitoring. The role also involves responding to site issues such as leaks, power outages, and fire alarm faults, completing general maintenance tasks, and training colleagues on fire safety and premises health and safety. Flexibility is essential, as you may support the repairs team during periods of high demand. You will maintain accurate digital and written records, support site inductions, and ensure all services are delivered safely and to a high standard. The role involves both independent and collaborative work with the wider Place & Environment team. Key Responsibilities • Conduct routine inspections and tests to maintain health and safety compliance. • Identify and report defects or emergencies using internal systems. • Complete repairs, maintenance, and fire door inspections to a high standard. • Train colleagues in fire safety and premises compliance. • Maintain professionalism, cleanliness, and safety during all work. • Deliver excellent customer service with respect, positivity, and professionalism. • Use mobile devices to accept, plan, schedule, and sign off work efficiently. • Support sustainability initiatives and undertake planned maintenance in line with procedures. Knowledge & Experience • Understanding of relevant standards, regulations, and health and safety legislation. • Experience with fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and extinguisher inspection. • Knowledge of managing and monitoring legionella risks. • Experience in compliance work within education or housing settings. • Ability to work safely in occupied properties across dispersed sites. Qualifications • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (grade C or above). • Essential health and safety courses related to fire prevention and legionella management. • IOSH “Working Safely” certification (desirable). • NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in a relevant trade, or equivalent experience.
