An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual committed to improving outcomes for learners with significant and complex social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties to apply for the position of Deputy Head of Centre at Ty Gwyn Education Centre.
Ty Gwyn Education Centre is a secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) serving learners aged 11 to 16 in a newly refurbished building in Aberdare, catering to up to 64 learners with behavioural, emotional, and social needs not met in mainstream schools. The curriculum includes core subjects (English, Maths, Science) and vocational and foundation subjects, with a focus on learner wellbeing and mental health. Ty Gwyn is a Trauma Informed School with a growing therapeutic support team.
As Deputy Head of Centre, you will share responsibilities with other senior leaders in areas such as standards, curriculum development, learner engagement, and behaviour. Your duties will be tailored to your strengths and experience. Leadership and a visible personal presence are essential, with a firm belief in the potential of all learners to succeed.
Ty Gwyn has recently been recognized by Estyn for significant improvement since 2019 and continues to develop under strong leadership.
