Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity available for an NLP Engineer to join the AI Research Team here at Samsung.
Samsung R&D Institute UK (SRUK) conducts cutting-edge research in AI to develop state-of-the-art solutions for real-world problems. The AI Research Team focuses on machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing (NLP). Successful candidates will work on innovative AI projects and contribute to the dissemination of research outputs through conferences and journals.
This is an outsourced contract role working on an hourly rate via one of our preferred recruitment agencies. The contract will run until 31st Dec 2025.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Conduct cutting-edge research to develop solutions for AI challenges.
2. Develop high-quality code and documentation for reproducible research.
3. Review state-of-the-art research papers and create prototype solutions.
4. Publish findings in top-tier AI conferences and journals
Skills and Qualifications
5. PhD in ML/AI, Computer Science/Engineering, or related fields.
6. Strong fundamentals in Mathematics, Machine Learning, NLP and Deep Learning.
7. Hands-on experience in one of these areas: Generative AI, Parameter-efficient Fine-tuning, Model Compression, Foundation Models, Large Language Models (LLMs), Data/Model Privacy or Prompting Methods.
8. First-author publications in top ML/AI conferences/journals (e.g., ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, EMNLP, CVPR, ECCV, IEEE TPAMI, AAAI or similar)
9. Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or C++.
10. Experience with Machine Learning libraries (e.g., PyTorch, SciKit, NumPy).
11. Experience in Linux environments
12. Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving
Location and Hybrid Working:
13. The role is based at Samsung R&D Institute in Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey, UK.
14. Samsung operates a hybrid working policy of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote weekly for most roles.
