The Role: As Head of Department, you will drive curriculum development, foster innovation, and promote the highest standards of teaching and learning. You’ll play a key role in enhancing student retention and achievement, supporting and developing staff, and contributing to the overall success of the Sixth Form provision. You will also have a teaching commitment of up to 13.5 hours per week. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the Business, Economics, and IT team, ensuring delivery of high-quality teaching and learning. Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to improve learner outcomes. Promote a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement. Develop schemes of work that support individualised learning. Monitor student progress and implement effective support strategies. Oversee staff development and performance management. Manage departmental budgets and resources. Build effective partnerships with local schools and stakeholders. What We’re Looking For: Degree-qualified with a recognised teaching qualification. Proven leadership experience within Business and/or Economics at A-level and Level 3 vocational courses. Successful track record of improving student outcomes. Experience of managing and developing staff and leading quality improvements. Strong organisational, communication, and decision-making skills. Knowledge of current curriculum developments and quality assurance within the Sixth Form/FE sector. Experience of managing departmental resources and budgets.
