Job Description:
The Role
KPMG’s Energy and Natural Resources (“ENR”) tax practice covers Oil and Gas, Mining, Power and Utilities (including renewables), and Chemicals. As our clients face unprecedented change with the energy transition and fiscal uncertainty, our ENR tax and legal practice is growing significantly.
Our clients include some of the largest global ENR companies, both UK headquartered and inbound groups. Our work encompasses deal advisory support, international tax, and domestic tax advice. A successful candidate will have opportunities to work across these areas.
Our Deal Advisory Tax work includes advisory services across the entire deal spectrum, including vendor assistance, refinancing, due diligence, buy-side due diligence, and structuring. We help clients understand historical tax issues and structure transactions, focusing on maximizing value throughout the investment cycle. Our work often involves advice on multiple countries, taxes, and work streams, collaborating across the KPMG network.
In tax advisory, we support clients with business and fiscal changes, such as entering new jurisdictions, developing new business areas, reorganizations, refinancing, leasing, and understanding impacts of windfall taxes and global fiscal changes like BEPS 2.0 Pillar 2.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with Partners and/or Directors on complex engagements to deliver exceptional advice and service.
* Support in pursuing new opportunities, including proposals and pitches.
* Develop and maintain client relationships.
* Act as a key KPMG contact for clients, legal advisers, and other teams to ensure effective delivery.
* Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning.
* Prepare or oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues.
* Analyze tax-related documents/data, highlight key issues, and communicate their commercial impact to clients.
* Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing and challenging their input.
* Maintain up-to-date tax technical knowledge regarding UK and OECD developments.
* Understand financial models from a tax perspective.
* Contribute to thought leadership.
The Person
* Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent.
* Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a keen interest in transactions.
* Previous experience in the ENR sector is advantageous, but candidates interested in the sector and eager to learn will also be considered.
* Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
* Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters.
* Strong analytical skills, curiosity, and a commercial approach to problem-solving and advising.
* Good project management skills, ability to work in teams, and initiative to drive projects.
* Ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
* Ability to coach colleagues.
* Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
We support flexible working arrangements to help balance home and work demands, including discussions during the recruitment process about individual needs and the culture of flexibility at KPMG.
