We are thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity to join our dynamic team at Walton on Thames Vets for Pets in the leadership role of Head Nurse About Us You’ll be joining and leading a team of 6 vets, 2 RVNs, an SVN and a VCA who are all supported by our incredible 4 non-clinical colleagues. We encourage everyone in our team to further their learning, offering support with both CPD courses and certificates. Our experienced RVN Brodie has completed a lab tech certificate this year, Dr Roger Bralow, one of our practice owners, holds a surgical certificate and is currently undertaking a certificate in advanced cardiology, whilst our second practice owner, Dr Marina Berkett, is currently completing an exotics certificate. We have access to equipment such as a laparoscopic kit, a multiparameter and dental x-ray. We also have an orthopaedic surgeon who regularly visits the practice to carry out advanced orthopaedic procedures for our patients. About You We are looking for an RVN with previous experience in leadership, and a passion for all things clinical to join our quirky and close-knit team. Previous experience as a clinical coach would be of great benefit to an application. Nurses are the heart of our practice and perform an integral clinical role in caring for our patients. We need someone who has great communication and organisation skills and takes pride in working to a high standard. Someone who has an interest in, and wants to learn about, the practice as a business, as well as how to motivate a team to achieve their personal and practice goals. The key to your success will be your ability to embrace all aspects of the Veterinary Nurse role, delivering excellent patient and client care and sharing that passion with the rest of the nursing team. About The Role You would lead the nursing team, oversea day to day running of the practice, ensure high standards of care whilst managing workload and providing support to the team. You would run monthly nurse meetings as well as be involved in the nursing team’s monthly 1:1s and annual appraisals. This opportunity is for a full-time role working with a variety of species. Your rota would be working 5 days per week, 1:4 Saturday’s, and following your Saturday shift, you would have the Monday off. We are closed on Sundays and work shorter shifts on bank holidays. We want to ensure you feel fulfilled and can utilise your full skill set, offering varied shifts that are patient focused, giving you ownership of cases from the anaesthetic to in-patient monitoring and owner communication as well as consults and, of course, dedicated admin time where required. Multiple opportunities to undertake schedule 3 nursing procedures can be provided, should this be within your area of interest. Our nurses are an invaluable part of our team, and are respected as such, being included in key practice conversations, alongside the care and treatment we are providing patients. This is even more crucial within the Head Nurse role, working closely with our practice manager Sam and our two practice owners daily to help run drive the team and manage the day to day running of the practice.
