Overview
The After School Club Playworker will support pupils in a safe, engaging environment, managing everyday incidents and ensuring a tidy, enjoyable setting. Key duties include supervision, behaviour management, first-aid oversight, and support for learning through play.
Responsibilities
* Deal with cases of unruly or unsocial behaviour by pupils and report incidents to the principal.
* Clean up floor surfaces and meal tables, ensuring a tidy environment.
* Maintain pupil safety by preventing entry into out-of-bounds areas and ensuring they do not leave the school premises.
* Provide effective supervision of pupils in the school hall and other areas.
* Record and manage first‑aid incidents and illnesses, ensuring maximum safety.
* Monitor and resolve health and welfare issues, referring where necessary to staff.
* Set up and clear tables and benches, sweep floors, and prepare spaces for active play.
* Ensure adequate provision of play equipment and organise games to keep children engaged.
* Deliver a varied programme of high‑quality play opportunities in a safe environment.
* Support the development of independent social skills.
* Help prepare snacks, clean the club room and toys, report damages, and tidy up.
* Implement positive behaviour strategies.
* Organise pupil entry and maintain discipline according to the school policy.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to liaise with parents to enable the effective operation of the clubs.
* Capacity to talk to children and adults in a clear, calm manner.
* Experience of working independently or in a group with initiative.
* Commitment to encouraging high standards of pupil behaviour at all times.
* Skill in initiating games and activities appropriate to the children’s age.
* Ability to inspire trust and confidence in children.
* Empathy towards the needs of children.
Legal & Safety Requirements
The successful applicant must be willing to undergo vetting appropriate to the post, including a social media presence check and Enhanced DBS check. All candidates are expected to adhere to safeguarding, welfare and health and safety policies of the Trust. All pre‑employment checks are in line with "Keeping Children Safe in Education" statutory guidance.

Contract Details
Fixed term until 31st August 2026. 12.5 hours a week (NJC 2 pro rata, £24,413.00 FTE). Working hours: 3.30 – 6 p.m., Monday – Friday.
